Deafblind Awareness Training for Care Staff:
I provide unique training for those professionals and staff working within residential care homes, nursing homes and supported living accommodation. This
training provides them with the understanding, knowledge and awareness of deafblind people.
The course covers an introduction to the knowledge and awareness of deafblindness. It includes practical exercises of sighted guiding, block alphabet and
deafblind manual signing and also information about guide dogs and dual-purpose dogs and an opportunity to ask questions.
The courses are very reasonably priced and last for two hours. They can be delivered at flexible times, whether that is day time, evening or weekends,
subject to availability.
To comply with legislation: the Equality Act 2010 (which replaces the Disability Discrimination Act 2005) organisations must ensure that someone is not
discriminated against or put at a ‘substantial disadvantage’ because of their disability or illness. It states that all services, organisations, education
providers and employers must make ‘reasonable adjustment’ to provide an individual with equal opportunity and access to services and the physical environment.
This specific deafblind awareness training can help you meet these requirements.
